Synopsis | This is the EBCS's latest and lengthiest booklet in its series of coaching manuals - its objective being to support those coaches interested in the development of young players.
Starting with a description of the possible content of short taster sessions, the guide then provides details of an actual 15-session course for young age groups. It then explains how a possible award scheme can be introduced into a long-term programme for those youngsters who maintain an active interest. Finally, for those children who wish to progress their skill levels, detailed examples are provided of two coaching sessions that incorporate purposeful practice and fun within an ordered 2½ hour programme. Very detailed, well illustrated and enhanced with many hints and tips, this booklet should not only meet its objectives in respect of young players, but will provide much valuable material for coaches to use at many other levels. Details of how to purchase copies of this booklet may be found here. Also by the English Bowls Coaching Scheme*: *Now known as the English Bowls Coaches Society |
