The book is arranged chronologically on a year-by-year basis and opens with a fascinating account of the way in which the Association was instituted in 1892, with one of its prime objectives being the standardisation of the game's rules. Thereafter, Association matters are summarised and results of national and international matches detailed. For each year there is also a page or two of 'City and County Notes'.
