Synopsis | The Humour of Bowls claims to be the first bowls book to record the 'humorosities'*, humorous stories and humorous poetry relating to the sport. Selected from some thousands collected by the compiler over 32 years, it contains 234 humorosities, 26 humorous stories and 43 humorous poems. As the foreword states: 'The Humour of Bowls will furnish those bowlers and others who are called upon to say a few words at bowling functions, green openings, and such like, with material to brighten their speeches.'
*Humorosities is the name John Monro concocted for short humorous anecdotes. Also by John P Monro: |
