Synopsis The little book consists almost entirely of a collection of cartoons - the majority with a bowling green setting and all but the first and last being captioned. Most of the captions are based loosely on a law or an accepted convention, for example, 'The green shall be surrounded by a ditch' and 'It is an offence to commit ungentlemanly and unfair acts'. This latitude allows the cartoonist adequate scope to portray 47 well-observed and humorous incidents.
