Synopsis | A delight for the bowls historian, this book chronicles in considerable detail a tour which saw 26 male bowlers, mainly from Victoria and New South Wales, and 15 accompanying ladies sail from Adelaide aboard SS Orford in March 1930. The ship arrived in Dover on 12 May having made calls at various European ports en route. A total of 59 matches were played in the British Isles, of which 44 were won, including a test match against Wales. Although reported only briefly, several of the party left England on 16 August on board SS Corona and on the journey back to Australia played matches in the US, Canada and New Zealand. |
